If there's one thing Manuel Pellegrini is good at, it's getting the best out of his full-backs.
So far this season, Pellegrini's go-to men in that position - Aleksandar Kolarov and Pablo Zabaleta - have racked up an amazing nine assists between them.
That is by far the best record in the Premier League, with the only other defender to make the top 30 in that category at all being Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra.
Zabaleta's tally of five sees him level with the likes of Eden Hazard, team-mate David Silva, Olivier Giroud and Luis Suarez.
But Kolarov's superb run and low cross for Edin Dzeko's opener against Newcastle yesterday has taken the Serb to within just one of the Argentine, making the pair a formidable threat from either flank.
Only Wayne Rooney has as many assists as the duo combined, while only Jesus Navas has more to his name than Zabaleta individually within the City squad.
Indeed, it looks as though Pellegrini's counterattacking exploits have made his full-backs flourish, with no other Premier League defenders even coming close to being as effective.
And when we get to the business end of the season, Kolarov and Zabaleta's assists may go a long way towards deciding the title race.
