A round up of key transfer stories about Chelsea this morning.
The Daily Mail has reported a £25 million bid from Chelsea for Benfica star Nemanja Matic.
The Blues originally let Matic go as part of the deal which saw David Luiz move to Stamford Bridge and now they want him back.
Matic is viewed as the ideal holding player by Jose Mourinho and reports from Portugal suggest an official announcement could be made tomorrow.
Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Inter Milan star Fredy Guarin.
Inter president Erick Thohir has conceded that his side won’t be able to keep the versatile Colombian midfielder.
“When there are great offers from big clubs, we have to take them into account. And above all, we can't make a player stay when his heart is not in it, but at another club,” said Thohir as quoted by the Mirror.
The Mirror has suggested that Chelsea will move for a high profile striker if they fail to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.
United are expected to offer Rooney a new contract over the second half of the season, which he may reject due to the current inconsistent performances under David Moyes.
However, reports suggest Monaco’s Falcao will move to the top of the list if Rooney extends his contract at Old Trafford.
