According to various sources, including the Mirror, Valencia midfielder Even Banega wants to leave the La Liga side and there is nothing Valencia can do to persuade their Argentine star to stay.
David Moyes has been a long-time admirer of the player trying to bring him to Everton previously, and the Scot is in desperate need to improve a midfield lacking in both creativity and bite.
Due to the unhappiness of the player, Banega’s normally high standards have dropped slightly his season yet the midfielder has still been competitive within a disappointing Valencia team. Los Che are currently 8th in La Liga, 13 points adrift of the Champions League places and in bad form – losing four of the last six games.
Ever Banega has started 12 La Liga games and a further two in the Europa League. The Argentine has been as comfortable as ever on the ball – averaging 45.1 passes per game with a completion rate of 84.5% as well as picking up three assists.
New manager Juan Antonio Pizzi recognises the influence of the Argentine however and has made his feelings clear about a possible departure.
A report in Spanish publication SuperDeporte confirmed last week:
“At the moment we are not considering letting anyone leave, we have not thought about Banega departing.”
One key matter however in the transfer saga is Valencia’s dire need of a striker. The Mirror's report highlighting Banega’s unhappiness have also commented on Valencia’s interest in Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez.
Chicharito has been nothing more than a part player since David Moyes became manager, starting just four Premier League matches, scoring in only one of them.
The Mexican has found himself firmly down the pecking order and with Danny Welbeck now finding the net on a regular basis, even losing his place in the national side. Hernandez’s Manchester United future looks bleak.
Valencia have taken an interest in the former Guadalajara striker in the past, and Pizzi has declared the need to bolster their striking options.
"What I said the other day was that it is normal to reinforce in attack, what I am saying now is that is where we are low on numbers”
Could Manchester United use Chicharito as part of a deal to secure Ever Banega?
It would probably depend on whether the two clubs could agree on a reasonable valuation for Javier Hernanzez – yet it would certainly be a deal that would suit all parties involved if they could get it done this month.
