Gianfranco Zola has stated that he had the option to move to the Turin giants while he was on the Stamford Bridge club’s books.
Chelsea will remember Gianfranco Zola’s time at the club with fondness, with the diminutive Italian going down as one of the best players to represent the club in recent times.
However, the skillful attacker’s time in west London could well have been cut short, as Zola has admitted that he had the chance to move to Juventus while he was in his pomp.
“When I was at Chelsea the possibility of going to the Bianconeri was floated, but nothing came from it,” he said.
“Therefore, having finished my Premier League experience, I decided to spend my final years at Cagliari.”
Zola played for Chelsea between 1996 and 2003, playing in the Premier League 229 times and netting 59 goals.
