Arsenal transfer news: Featuring Draxler, Ntep and former striker

Eduardo

All the latest transfer news from The Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are said to be ready to do battle with Chelsea for the signature of Atletico Madrid youngster Saul Niguez. The Spanish under-21 international, who is currently out on loan at Rayo Vallecano, is just 19-years-old but highly rated in Spain after an exceptional first six months of the new season.

Barcelona are also said to be keen on the player - but Arsenal will hope their Spanish contingent can help lure him to The Emirates.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to move for German international Julian Draxler in the summer.

The Schalke 04 attacking midfielder has a release clause in his contract set at €45 million for the summer and recently had a tour of the Arsenal training complex.

German based journalist Jan Age Fjortoft - who broke the Mesut Ozil transfer news - believes the deal is as good as done for the summer - as Schalke already have Bayer Leverkusen stat Sidney Sam lined up to replace him.

Former Arsenal striker Eduardo has said he would return to the club. The Croatian, perhaps most famous for his horror injury during his time in North London, is out of contract at Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer - and has been linked with Arsenal as a consequence.

"I do not know anything about it, other than what I read in the media. But of course, who would not like to go to Arsenal? Everybody knows that when I left, everything was done in a friendly manner.”

Arsenal target Paul-Georges Ntep has set pulses racing on Twitter over a potential Arsenal switch - after posting a picture of himself aboard the Eurostar to London.

It is not known yet if the visit is business or pleasure - or both.

The player has been linked with a move from AJ Auxerre.

Away from transfer news now - and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been tipped to become a cetral midfielder by Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners boss stated he could even become a Steven Gerrard type player:

“He will be deeper as he has a good long ball, penetration from deep and a good quality to distribute and penetrate individually. Certainly he has the same qualities to Steven Gerrard.

“He is a bit of a Ramsey type.”
