United to be without Van Persie for another SIX WEEKS – report

A report in the British press today is claiming that the Netherlands international will be on the sidelines for some time still.

Manchester United have been on a dreadful run of form of late, with David Moyes not able to call on his star strike partnership of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

While the Englishman is making progress and could well be back in time to face Chelsea on January 19, the Scottish boss has confirmed that the Dutch star will not be available for some time yet.

However, according to The Daily Mail, Van Persie still has considerable rehabilitation to undergo before he is back at Moyes’ disposal, and could still be unavailable for another six weeks.

The Red Devils have missed last season’s top goalscorer as he has not been available to them since December 10 in a win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

If Van Persie is still to be unavailable for six weeks, he would miss key clashes in the Premier League against Chelsea and former club Arsenal, while he would be a major doubt for the round of 16 first leg clash with Olympiakos.

Moyes has come under criticism from Dutch fitness specialist Raymond Verheijen for his training methods, with the accusation that the Scot has overtrained the superstar forward.
