The France international has been linked with a Tottenham exit to join Rafa Benitez’s men, which seems unlikely.
The Transfer Bin is where the most ludicrous and downright stupid transfer rumours end up, with another one for the pile from White Hart Lane.
The Serie A giants are trying to land Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons, but it has been stated in both the Italian and English media that a bid has ran aground and the Spanish manager is ready to turn his attentions to Spurs’ enforcer.
Although Capoue has not lived up to his superstar billing since his summer move from Toulouse, largely due to injury and not getting a fair crack of the whip, the chances of Spurs allowing the player to leave after six months is, well, ridiculous.
Before he got injured against Arsenal in the North London derby earlier in the season, Capoue had shown real athleticism and physicality in the Tottenham midfield and looked like a player that could be a real asset to the club.
He has taken time to recover from injury and since been used at centre-half as a stop-gap while others have been injured. Of late he has not been given a chance to play regularly under Tim Sherwood.
That said, once he fully regains fitness and is given more time on the pitch, Capoue has all the attributes to be an important man in Sherwood’s side.
For the player to be allowed to leave after such a short period at the club would be an oversight and an insult to an international quality player who has not been given a chance.
Rubbish Rating: Capoue is going nowhere this January.
