Marco Verratti’s representative has quashed rumblings that the talented midfielder could be heading to the Turin giants this January.
As Manchester United’s search for a midfielder with energy, purpose and creativity rumbles on, one man that has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford in the recent past looks set to stay put where he is.
Marco Verratti is one of Italy’s up-and-coming stars, but the Azzurri international has a lot of competition for a first-team berth in Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield.
As such, the former Pescara man’s name is regularly mentioned in the tabloids as a possible target for English sides and for a move back to his homeland.
Juventus are thought to be real admirers of the talent, and with Andrea Pirlo getting older Verratti has been coined in some corners as a potential replacement for the deep-lying playmaker.
With PSG ready to launch an approach for Juve’s Paul Pogba, a swap deal has been pedaled in the press, however this has been rubbished by Verratti’s agent.
“Well, Marco is happy at PSG,” Donato Di Campli said.
“If the club were to come and tell us that he was not in their plans then we would evaluate his options.
“You all know he is a fan of Juve…but at this moment there have been no indications, in that sense.”
If Verratti has available for transfer, English sides such as United would surely be interested, but for the time being it seems like the Italian is remaining in Paris.
