The top five players linked with signing for Arsenal this week: Costa, Martinez and more

Alvaro Morata

Atletico Madrid, FC Porto, Real Madrid, Hellas Verona and Juventus stars all feature.

Arsenal are in a great position to win silverware on multiple fronts this season so it’s no surprise they have been linked with some very good players, as Arsene Wenger will be looking to strengthen over the second half of the season.

Arsenal are short in one or two areas where an extra body could make the difference with a backup striker still a priority and Theo Walcott’s knee injury has created a debate over whether the Gunners need another wide man.

Fortunately for Arsenal, it doesn’t look as though any first team stars are going to jump ship this month, which means fans can look forward to the possibility of exciting arrivals over disappointing departures.

Here are the top five players the Gunners have been linked with this week.

1) Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)

Yep, it’s Diego Costa for the third week on the trot at the top of the list. The Daily Star has run a report which reveals bookies have slashed the odds on the £32 million forward picking Arsenal over the other sides linked with him.

2) Jackson Martinez (FC Porto)

Another very talented striker to be linked with the Gunners this week. The nine goals in 12 games striker has been made a priority for Arsenal this month according to the Metro, with a £33 million release clause to be paid.

3) Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid)

There have been reports everywhere this week over a possible Arsenal loan move for the 21-year-old forward. If that’s the direction Wenger wants to travel in, it’ll cost the club £1.7 million to have the Spaniard for the second half of the season.

4) Jorginho (Hellas Verona)

Not a new name for many Arsenal fans but the talented Serie A forward could be available. His agent has suggested a deal is possible if the club receive a good offer this month.

“He can leave Verona now if he receives a great offer - if an important proposal arrives it is fair that the player is allowed to leave,” Joao Santos told Tutto Mercato Web.

5) Sebastian Giovinco (Juventus)

The 26-year-old has been linked with a loan move to Arsenal by the Metro. He’s an extremely versatile player and can play as a winger, a creative midfielder and a second striker.
