The top five players linked with signing for Chelsea this week: Rooney, Higuain and more

Manchester United, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Cruzeiro and Hellas Verona stars all feature.

Jose Mourinho has guided Chelsea to a great position on more than one front this season and the Blues continue to be linked with some of the best players in Europe, as targets are suggested for the second half of the season.

Mourinho himself will never give away his transfer intentions this month which has led to the rumour mill producing links which suggest Chelsea are after some extremely good players in big deals.

Chelsea are still being linked with an extra striker as well as players in other key areas of the first team squad.

Here are the top five players linked with the club this week.

1) Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

The Daily Telegraph has suggested that Mourinho believes he can secure the signing of Wayne Rooney from the Premier League champions. United’s struggles this season have been well publicised and Rooney could be tempted into a move this summer.

2) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Chelsea have been made the betting favourite with Sky Bet to sign Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli. Recent reports suggested that the Blues have already seen a £50 million offer for the forward turned down.

3) Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)

Not the first time the prolific La Liga forward has appeared on this list and it’s unlikely to be the last. Chelsea continue to be linked with a possible £32 million move with a latest report from the Express suggesting the club are still interested.

4) Dede (Cruzeiro)

Moving away from strikers, TalkSport has suggested Chelsea are considering a move for the Brazilian defender, with Manchester United also interested. The 25-year-old is expected to form the spine of the Brazilian national side for several years.

5) Jorginho (Hellas Verona)

Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has told an Italian website that if the Italian club get a good offer for the forward this month, then a deal is possible. Chelsea are one of several Premier League sides thought to have an interest.
