Tottenham's Younes Kaboul is back in first team training.
Younes Kaboul has handed Tottenham coach Tim Sherwood a huge lift as the Frenchman has returned to first team training.
Tottenham have been short in the middle of their defence over the last few weeks with Kaboul and Belgian Jan Vertonghen missing regular games with spells in the treatment room.
However, photos released by the club show Kaboul taking part in a training session with other first team stars as he closes on a competitive return from a thigh injury.
Tottenham may take a similar approach to his comeback as they have done in the past with the potential for Kaboul to take part in under-21 games and reserve matches, which will help to increase his match fitness and sharpness.
Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches have formed a very decent relationship in Tottenham’s defence despite results not going entirely Tottenham’s way and a fresh player coming back into the team will only aid the situation.
Kaboul will provide power and strength against any striker looking to back into the Tottenham defence, creating a physical battle as they look to create space in front of the Spurs back four.
Kaboul is the sort of player who won’t allow that to happen because he has the strength and presence to deal with it, which means it should be easier for Tottenham to deal with sides playing in the gap between midfield and defence.
The temptation for Sherwood will be to rush him back as quickly as possible but Kaboul is someone prone to picking up problems if he plays prematurely so there’s a fine balance for the coach to achieve.
However, there’s no doubt that the pictures of Kaboul training yesterday are a massive plus for the club.
