Newcastle United transfer news: Star could leave for £6m in summer, £1m in agent's fees could stop striker deal

A round up of key transfer stories and rumours about Newcastle United.

Newcastle United could lose midfielder Yohan Cabaye in the summer for as little as £6 million, according to The Mirror. A FIFA rule (the Webster Rule) means that if Newcastle fail to sell the Frenchman this month, they won’t get as fee anywhere close to the £20 million they are looking for.

Newcastle are one of the teams reported as in talks with Blackpool over a move for Tom Ince. The club are going up against Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur for the aggressive midfielder, with reports indicating a potential fee of around the £4 million mark.

Newcastle have been put off from making a move for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis according to the Metro. The daily paper suggests that the deal could be worth around £1 million in agent’s fees on top of any fee that the French club demand for the Ligue One striker.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has encouraged Newcastle to make a bid to sign Loic Remy on a permanent basis. The forward is on loan with the Premier League side and Redknapp has said another side will sign him if Newcastle don’t.

“You would think they would want to snap him up wouldn’t you? If they don’t then someone else will. For what we got him for, he’s probably worth double that now,” said Redknapp.

Newcastle are sweating over a loan bid for striker Luuk De Jong. Sources from Germany have suggested that the 23-year-old is keen on a move to the North East of England but the deal apparently rests on agreements between Newcastle and Borussia Monchengladbach over terms.

The club are expected to abandon attempts to sign 23-year-old French midfielder Remy Carbella. The Frenchman has announced that he wants to stay at current club Montpellier this month, meaning he’ll be playing Ligue One football for the rest of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move for Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy. The French giants have been linked with numerous defensive targets following an injury to Christophe Jallet and the Daily Star has revealed that PSG are keen on a loan deal.
