January is going to be a big month at Selhurst Park as Tony Pulis looks to shape his squad.
Tony Pulis has said he wants to bring in 'grafters' to the club to add to the fighting spirit he has instilled since his arrival.
He has yet to make a signing for the club but there have been a few departures. As expected play-off final hero Kevin Phillips has left the club after his six-month contract expired.
Phillips scored the winning goal in the play-off final against Watford last May when he scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. He has said he wants to return to the Midlands to be closer to his family, and is reportedly about to sign for Leicester City.
Jimmy Kebe has been reunited with Brian McDermott. He played under him at Reading, and McDermott has brought the pacey winger to Leeds United on a loan deal until the end of the season. Having made just six appearances for Palace this year, things haven't worked out for Kebe at Selhurst Park
Wilfried Zaha had been rumoured to be a possibility for Pulis but the gaffer has now ruled out this move. Pulis told talkSPORT “We've spoken to David Moyes about Zaha and I don't think he's too keen on him coming back to London.” It is a strange situation regarding Zaha as he is clearly not getting enough game time at United, and a loan move would benefit both parties. Especially with Theo Walcott now ruled out of the World Cup, Zaha may fancy his chances.
Tony Pulis has said he wants to strengthen his backline, and has been linked with making a move for Blackburn Rovers defender Scott Dann.
The Mirror have reported that Dann would have to take a pay-cut if he joined Palace, and they would also want to reduce his wages further if they ended up getting relegated. He is said to be on £32,000 a week currently. Blackburn could be willing to accept an offer of around £3m though. Dann was superb in the top flight in his Premier League days with Birmingham City and could be exactly what The Eagles need.
