All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.
Despite recent reports that Real Madrid had no intention of allowing striker Alvaro Morata leave the club - today it seems that has all changed,
Yesterday there were chinese whisper like rumours on the future of the Spanish Under-21 international, which now appear to be becoming true.
Yesterday it was claimed that Real Madrid were becoming open to the idea of letting Morata go on loan until the end of the season.
Now a loan fee is being mooted. The Mirror report that if Arsenal want to bring in the striker on a short-term basis they will have to splash out £1.7 million in a loan fee. With Jese Rodriguez preferred to Morata as the back-up for Karim Benzema by Carlo Ancelotti it would appear Arsenal are just coughing up £1.7 million away from solving their striking dilemma for the rest of the season.
However that news now appears to be erroneous. Carlo Ancelotti has now made it clear that the striker will be going nowhere in January:
“We have not changed our idea at all. Morata stays here and he has not told us that he wants to leave.”
Arsenal are reportedly in the running for Juventus and Italy playmaker Sebastian Giovinco. The diminutive creative midfielder has struggled for football this term and is now unlikely to be heading to the World Cup with the Azzurri in the summer.
However Arsenal are rumoured to be after the player on loan until the end of the season.
Away from transfer news, and a boost for Arsenal from yesterday’s Under-21 clash against Fulham - as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his comeback from a serious knee injury.
Chamberlain has been out since damaging knee ligaments on the opening day of the season against Aston Villa, but he impressed in a 45 minute cameo yesterday and is hoping to be back in first-team action before the end of the month.
