Arsenal take on Aston Villa on Monday - and they have had some positive news regarding injuries. Olivier Giroud is all set to return for the fixture after illness and an ankle problem.
Meanwhile Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came through an Under-21 game this week and Arsene Wenger has made it clear he would have 'no hesitation' putting him in the squad against Villa - and could even bring him into the action.
His return has been hailed by central defender Per Mertesacker:
“We need every single player and in particular Alex. It was a real shock when he was out after Aston Villa… with his passing and obviously with his finishing. He can absolutely [make] a great impact for any team in the world so we are really pleased that he's back.”
“In general, as a footballer in the Premier League you have lots of fun because the league is so interesting and it is so much fun to play here.”
However he also admitted that fitness was a more vital part of the English game - as more emphasis is put on tracking back then in La Liga or the Bundesliga.
Fulham boss Rene Muelensteen has confirmed reports that Dimitar Berbatov has not been the subject of a bid from Arsenal.
"Nope. He's a Fulham player. There's nothing. He's a Fulham player, and a very important one for us.”
Benfica have joined the race for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. The Spanish Under-21 international has been the subject of a €7 million bid from the Portuguese outfit.
However Real last night stated he was not for sale - so this may prove fruitless.
Schalke 04 have confirmed that Julian Draxler could leave the club. Sporting director Horst Heldt admitted they could be powerless in any pursuit to keep the player - because of his €45.5 million release clause:
"We still hope that Julian stays, but there are elements we can't influence."
