Agent of Italian target ruled out loan move hours BEFORE Arsenal link

Sebastian Giovinco

Sebastian Giovinco's agent ruled out a loan move for his client hours before Arsenal reportedly made an approach.

Arsenal were linked late last night with the signature of ‘the Atomic Ant’ Sebastian Giovinco. The diminutive playmaker has been out of favour in Turin this season - and is at serious risk of losing his place in the Italian squad for the upcoming World Cup as a consequence.

Arsenal are of course without Theo Walcott for the rest of the season - and are said to be targeting the 26-year-old for a potential six-month loan spell.

In fact, Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has commented on the potential deal - suggesting Arsenal have been in touch with the Bianconeri recently to assess the availability of the player.

The question of whether Arsenal need the player or not, which in my humble opinion they don’t, is for another day - but the whether they really are after him is slightly interesting.

Despite the reports that came out last night - earlier on the very same day his agent Andrea D’Amico was actually speaking specifically on the future of the player.

And he certainly didn’t mention Arsenal, despite being happy to drop one team name into the conversation:

“It’s a situation that’s never been considered. He has a contract that expires in 2015 and he’s very important to Juventus. If he ends up leaving Turin, it will be to a permanent destination, especially since he’s now proven his value. Fiorentina? They’ve never even asked about him.”

The first reports of Giovinco came in late last night - so any contact between club, player and agent would have likely been made by some point over the previous 24 hours - although these comments came in that time period.

And if they are to be believed Giovinco is certainly not on his way to Arsenal on a loan deal - and if anything he looks likely to be staying at Juventus unless Fiorentina come knocking.
