Transfer news from Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland, Hull City, West Brom and Arsenal.
Jermain Defoe will become a Toronto FC player on Monday. The England international will fly to Canada on Sunday to be presented and will fly back to Tottenham - where he will stay on loan, likely until April.
Defoe is said to become the highest paid player in MLS history on £90k-a-week and will cost around £6 million.
Hull City have moved to deny reports a deal has been done for Shane Long of West Brom. The Tigers boss Steve Bruce is a known admirer of the tireless Irishman - whose contract expires in the summer.
With that in mind The Baggies are keen to sell before losing him for nothing and while no deal is yet done - this seems a matter of time.
Argentine defender Santiago Vergini is expected to become a Sunderland player in the coming days. The 25-year-old Argentine international will switch from Estudiantes in his homeland, as confirmed by the clubs sporting director:
"He wants to leave Estudiantes, and as he isn't a player that is considered as principle in the squad, we have accepted his departure. He wants to change team, and as there is a good offer that we have analysed, he will leave our club."
Arsenal have allowed striking starlet Chuba Akpom to join Brentford on a one-month loan deal - despite the club facing something of a striker shortage at the moment.
The talented teen will join up with his new Griffin Park team-mates this week and will hope to have a similar impact to the one Wojciech Szczesny had at the club.
It is reported that Juventus will not make a move for Erik Lamela until the summer. It was previously believed they could offer Mirko Vucinic in exchange for a loan deal this winter - but that no longer seems to be the case.
It comes amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool - and a potential contract offer in the horizon.
