According to reports by Brazil based website Sambafoot, Manchester United are reportedly looking at replacements for influential defender Nemanja Vidic, with Cruzeiro centre back Dede a possible target.
The 25-year-old centre back has been capped by Brazil nine times and is looking to force himself into the Brazil squad for the World Cup in his home nation. He faces competition from many of the world's finest defenders, including the likes of Chelsea's David Luiz, Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva and Bayern Munich's Dante.
Therefore, he is likely to need a move to a club the size of Manchester United to even be considered - after recently losing his place in the Selecao to PSG youngster Marquinhos. The idea of United bringing in a player playing for his place at a home World Cup should certainly be welcomed, as they can only benefit from him playing out of his skin.
However, a desperate need to play in Brazil next summer is not the only reason they should consider a move for the player.
He has been incredible for Cruzeiro in their title-winning season and has made an impression on people in his home country, I take a look why he could also make an impression on people in this country?
The Brazilian is a terrifically gifted defender, who has played a huge part in Cruzeiro's championship win. He made 218 clearances in his 31 games, including 79 interceptions and 59 tackles.
He is also proved to be one of the most dominant aerial players in the division, winning 83% of his personal battles in the air.
But in typical samba fashion the defender also offers an attractive attacking style to his game. Dede made 1402 passes in 31 games last season, including six goalscoring chances and 35 shots.
The impressive defender was also named Whoscored's top player in the Brazilian league, attaining a 7.51 match score average.
His agent, Claudio Vagheggi, has made it clear there is English interest in his player - and even suggested a price that would see him leave his current club.
"Several clubs in England and Russia are following Dedé, but he is only going to leave Cruzeiro for €12 to €15 million."
At that price it would be hard for United not to take a chance on the player, especially when his statistics, age and attitude look worth their weight in gold.
