€30m Arsenal and Man United target 'feels undervalued' at Real Madrid

Could Angel Di Maria's unhappiness at Real Madrid be down to the fact he's not considered a star at the club?

Spanish newspaper Marca claims to have gotten to the bottom of Angel Di Maria’s apparent unhappiness at Real Madrid; he isn’t seen as a star.

The Argentinian winger’s desire to leave the Spanish giants has been widely reported all over Spain, with Real Madrid fans unafraid to show the player how they feel regardless of his performances at the Bernabeu.

The boos he received earlier this week in the Copa del Rey match against Celta Vigo prompted that now infamous gesture of the player grabbing his crotch, which has only added to the negative feelings towards him from Madridistas.

“The winger feels undervalued and that just because his profile doesn't fit the bill, he isn't seen as a star at Real Madrid. His status in Argentina, where he is one of the four main men alongside Messi, Kun and Higuaín, isn't reflected at club level,” reads the Marca report.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has just reiterated his claim that no players will be leaving the club this summer, which means if Di Maria is looking for a way out it’s not going to happen until after the World Cup.

Should he become available then there will be a very long line of top European clubs looking to buy him including Arsenal and Manchester United from the Premier League.

It’s not uncommon for top flight football players to desire a higher status to enjoy because the success, the big money contracts and the pressure all have the ability to create an egotistical nature.

Di Maria would be well advised to keep his head down because it’s clear there are already plenty against him in a league and country where he will have to spend the next half a year at least.

If he wants to force a transfer then the summer is the time to do it.
