City win 10 in 10 at home, average FOUR goals per game

Manchester City have won their last 10 games at home, scoring 43 goals in the process.

Will Manchester City ever lose at home?

It certainly seems a long way off. Especially when they have won their last 10 games at the Etihad Stadium - and scored no less than 43 goals in the process.

That's an average of over four goals a game, taking Manuel Pellegrini's side to just one off their total for last season, with five months to go...

City's Capital One Cup win last night may have come against a West Ham side that shipped five against Nottingham Forest - but the ease with which they put six past Sam Allardyce's men further highlighted their supremacy at the Etihad.

The usual suspects chipped in with the goals, as Alvaro Negredo claimed a hat-trick, while Edin Dzeko bagged a brace and Yaya Toure also scored. Even then, however, Sergio Aguero is still due to come back from injury.

As things stand, the question of who can beat City at home has to be raised again.

In the Premier League, only Chelsea can realistically hope to stop Pellegrini's side from winning, let alone hold hope of beating them - unless Manchester City have an off day.

In Europe, of course, City have been beaten by Bayern, while they host Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League in a tie that could produce fireworks.

Domestically, though, perhaps the only chance City have of losing at home will come in the FA Cup, if Pellegrini's men are drawn against an Arsenal, Liverpool or Everton.

But, for now, the speculation must make way for sheer awe. Blackburn and Cardiff are due to visit the Etihad this January, meaning further goals could be on the menu. Then comes the big showdown against Chelsea in February.

If City can get through that fixture unscathed, 10 wins could well become 20, while their goal average could rocket even further.
