Manchester City fans dream of historic quadruple, claiming their passing game to be greater than Barcelona & that Manchester United should watch and learn.
Excitable Manchester City fans are in wonderland, not just because their local rivals Manchester United are in blunderland - losing their own League Cup semifinal, but also due to the fact that there are no teams in England playing football as technically exquisite and as powerful as City are - and their 6-0 rout against an overmatched West Ham United is testament to that.
Alvaro Negredo returned a majestic hat-trick, Edin Dzeko scored a brace while Yaya Toure produced a ridiculous 45-yard run to slot his own effort into the net - it was as sixy as football can get, with six of the best goals, prompting City supporters to question whether they were watching their own side, or an incarnate of La Liga royalty Barcelona - their Champions League opposition in the first knockout round scheduled next month.
This was not a case of West Ham being too poor, no, City have done this to many a team, many a London team in fact, as, in tennis parlance, they have stormed to straight set victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and their visitors from the Boleyn Ground - 6-0, 6-3, 6-0.
The Hammers were never in the game, only had 31% of the share of the football, mustered a meagre there shots on goal and one on target, compared to City's 69% possession share, 32 shots on goal, 11 on target and six goals.
It was masterful.
Manchester City this season, it's as if somebody just dropped Barcelona into the Premier League. Not fair on the other teams really.— David (@Dakeb_MCFC) January 9, 2014
