Celtic linked to £1m Sporting wonderkid, also interesting Manchester United

Sporting Lisbon Nextgen

Carlos Mane is the latest name linked to Celtic.

Celtic fans take note, possible signing Carlos Mane is one heck of a prospect.

The Scotsman reports that the SPL side are looking to spend £1 million to sign the Sporting Lisbon wonderkid.

Mane has recently begun breaking into the Sporting first team, making four substitute appearances to date.

It was his exploits with the club's NextGen Series sides over the past two seasons which really caught the eye, many of which feature in the video below, including a goal against Aston Villa.

Back in the Autumn, reports in Portugal claimed Manchester United were monitoring the player.

Whether Celtic's bid will be enough to tempt Sporting Lisbon is another matter. Mane, 19, featured at the under-19 European Championship in the summer, scoring once in the four games he played.

Mane is quick, full of tricks, and as well as being capable with either foot is an talented header of the ball. Celtic would be a good move for him, rather than a move to Manchester United say, where first team opportunities may be more difficult to come by.

This could be one to watch as the transfer window progresses, and it would be a brave man to bet against him being a success at Parkhead if he signs.
