Manchester United have been linked with a number of credible transfer options over the past 24 hours, but there is always one who spoils it.
That's the same World Cup winning, and three-time Champions League winning Xavi, who helped tear United to shreds in two of those finals.
Here's a look at what was reported:
"Xavi has hinted at a future transfer to Manchester United after admitting that he might not finish his career at Barcelona.
"The 33-year-old, who is a product of Barca’s infamous La Masia youth setup, has spent his whole career with the Catalan club.
"But when quizzed this week if he will play out the remainder of his playing days for Barca, Xavi hinted that he may consider leaving."
His actual comments?
"It’s difficult to finish your career at Barcelona, I don’t know if I’ll end up finishing my career here."
No mention of Manchester United, purely clutching at a dream scenario which has next to no chance of taking off.
United failed in moves for Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara last summer, who chose Bayern instead. Even suggestions they could move for prospect Sergi Roberto have struck out.
This is one deal, amid all the talk of United having £50 million, £100 million or even £200 million to spend, we can't see happening above all others, not now and not ever.
