According to The Times Juan Mata's agent has offered the services of his client around the top clubs in Europe, including the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The working relationship between Mata and Mourinho from the outside looking in, looks omnious.
Last season the Chelsea number 10 was considered one of the top players in the Premier League and was well on his way to becoming an iconic name at Stamford Bridge.
He scored and created 12 goals Premier League goals last season and also won the club's Player of the Year award. And despite this season not going to plan, there is no doubt that he will leave Stamford Bridge with fond memories and the utmost respect from the supporters.
With every minute the transfer clock counts down it looks more and more likely that the Spaniard will leave Stamford Bridge this month. The latest reports claim that his agent has been actively sounding out clubs for potential destinations.
It does make sense that Juan Mata needs to be proving himself week in, week out at a club to be able to lay claim to a starting spot for Spain in the World Cup. This makes the links to Real Madrid and Barcelona plausible, as proving himself in La Liga as potentially be the best move for his International career.
He has also been linked to Inter Milan and Napoli. The Inter Milan links seem to have the weakest claim to the player, however, Napoli possibly have the strongest.
The current manager of Napoli is former Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez, although his time at Stamford Bridge doesn't hold too many fond memories, he got the best out of Mata and the player must trust him to do it again.
The return of the 'special one' has done little for Mata and if anything it has made him regress, although it has to be said that Mourinho has improved Chelsea overall.
Therefore, I believe this just becomes another case of a very talented player not being able to play to a very talented manager's style and going backwards in the process. Unfortunate, but it happens.
