One Liverpool player has received high commendation from defender Kolo Toure as the pace and skill-level he possesses can beat any footballer in the Premier League, however, the subject of the praise is not one of the clubs renowned stars such as Luis Suarez or Steven Gerrard, but a star in the making; Raheem Sterling.
Sterling was ear-marked as a phenom when he was making a mockery of full backs and defences whilst in the club's academy, he received a run in the senior squad last season and has pushed on this campaign, starting every match from the previous nine available to him.
Of the Jamaica-born English 19-year-old, Toure said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo: 'For me at the moment Raheem is one of the best players in our team. I play against him every day in training and every time I go up against him it's always tough.
'He can beat any player in this league with his pace and skill. He's very strong and compact. He works so hard for the team and this boy certainly has a very bright future.'
Sterling dazzled most recently in the FA Cup third round triumph over Oldham Athletic where his passing found Iago Aspas for the first Reds goal prior to providing the assist for Oldham player James Tarkowski's own goal.
From 15 appearances in the Premier League, Sterling has completed 82% of his passes, provided two assists and scored three goals. He has also won 21 fouls and does not neglect his defensive duty by winning 80% of his tackling attempts and completing seven interceptions.
However, his most prolific attribute is his creation, as he has contributed 21 clear goal-scoring opportunities - a return of one every 41 minutes.
Concluded Toure: 'He's playing more games now and when you play a number of games in a row you get a lot of confidence. For a young player like that to be playing at that level is amazing.'
