Real Madrid may however think against sending Morata out to join up with Mesut Ozil, and highlight the mistake they made in letting the German go.
If Arsene Wenger has his scouts already out in Spain perhaps they could extend their stay to swing by some other clubs in the region to look at a few other La Liga starlets who could come in to provide goals for the Gunners.
1) Antoine Griezmann
Undoubtedly one of the hottest prospects in La Liga and in his homeland France is this 22-year-old winger who can function well as a striker. He has scored 12 goals and made two assists in the league for Real Sociedad so far this term in 16 appearances, and averages a goal every 106 minutes at present. He also has Champions League experience and will no doubt be a player Wenger will already be aware of from his native France. He could be available for under £20 million although his current contract runs until 2016.
2) Iker Muniain
Another hot prospect in his native Spain is 21-year-old winger Iker Muniain who has also functioned as a striker for both Athletic Bilbao and the Spain U21 side. He has five goals and two assists in all competition this term over 19 appearances and was awarded La Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year back in 2011. His contract runs until 2015 but his release clause is perhaps a little steep, thought to be around €36 million as of last year.
3) Thievy Bifouma
Perhaps a cheaper and certainly a lesser-known prospect is Ghanaian-born France U21 international Bifouma who has scored three goals as a striker for Espanyol this term. The 21-year-old is an out-and-out striker valued around £2.5 million but would be unlikely to represent the kind of impact signing of Morata – he would be the kind of signing for the future like Yaya Sanogo at Arsenal.
4) Haris Seferovic
Perhaps a more experienced signing would be Switzerland international Seferovic who plays as a centre-forward for Real Sociedad alongside Griezmann. The 21-year-old has scored three goals and made two assists in La Liga and the Champions League so far this term and is valued around £4.4 million.
Finally, the most closely related player to Morata is perhaps 20-year-old Juanmi who plays as a striker for Malaga, the former stomping ground of Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal. The Spaniard has impressed with his contribution of three goals in 8 appearances for Malaga this term and will be on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs in the future.
