Tottenham winger's father has spoken to the press about his son's unhappiness in London.
Various media sources are reporting that Erik Lamela's father has spoken out about his son's difficulties at Tottenham. And if true, the news may be the beginning of the end for the Argentinian attacker's brief time in the capital.
The Metro reports a series of quotes from Jose Lamela, where Tottenham's record signing is described as unhappy and interested in returning to Italy. The youngster has been linked to a clutch of Italy's top clubs as well as with Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
"Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy," he told the Italian media.
"He has been linked with Lazio, but I don’t know anything about this. Could he re-join Roma? I don’t know."
The player's father went on to stress that the North London club have reservations about letting Lamela leave, on loan or in a permanent deal, a position Tim Sherwood has adopted over the last week or so.
"Tottenham does not want him to leave in January," said Lamela senior.
After scoring just one goal this season, and making less than ten Premier League appearances, the former Roma man may be keen to move in order to secure his World Cup spot for the summer's tournament.
But if a club were to offer anywhere near the money Tottenham paid for him, they might just be prepared to cut their losses.
