Transfer Talk: Featuring Lamela, Sagna and Mata

Transfer news from Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Everton.

The Telegraph has reported that Tottenham have ruled out a January loan move for Erik Lamela. The Argentinian was being linked with a return to Serie A with Inter Milan and Roma among the sides interested in signing him over the second half of the season. The paper says Spurs are adamant that Lamela will remain with them.

Reported Manchester United target Everton Ribeiro has said he can’t leave current side Cruzeiro unless a concrete offer comes up. The 24-year-old is one of the players linked with solving the apparent midfield crisis at Old Trafford.

“I can’t say that I’m leaving if nothing concrete comes up,” he told Lancenet.

Goal has suggested that Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna is not looking to leave the club. Sagna is set for a fresh round of new contract talks with the Gunners, as they look to extend his deal beyond this season. PSG, Monaco and Inter Milan are among the clubs to have been linked with the Frenchman.

Chelsea are set for showdown talks with Spanish midfielder Juan Mata over his future. Speculation surrounding Mata has been ongoing since the summer, with Atletico Madrid interested in doing a loan deal. Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United have also been suggested as a destination.

Aston Villa are reportedly considering a £6 million offer for Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott. Lescott has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium and early indications suggested he could have been on his way to Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal. Villa may now have the edge if they make an offer for a permanent deal.

German newspaper Bild has reported that Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong could be on the verge of a move to Newcastle United. The 23-year-old has struggled to have a big impact during his time with the German club and reports indicate Alan Pardew is keen on offering him a way out of the Bundesliga.

Everton are being linked with a £750,000 deal for Dundee United left-back Andrew Robertson. Roberto Martinez is thought to be impressed with the defender who is enjoying a growing reputation in Scottish football. Everton will reportedly loan Robertson back to his current club upon a deal going through.
