Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker is being linked with a switch to Paris Saint-Germain by a French source.
HITC’s Transfer Bin aims to filter through the rumour mill for you, exploiting some of the crazier transfer rumours and explaining in simple terms why they just won’t happen.
The site under the microscope today is French source Le 10 Sport which has raised the suggestion of Kyle Walker as a possible transfer target for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Walker is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League but according to the website, he’s caught the attention of Laurent Blanc who is reportedly keen to secure a long term replacement for Christophe Jallet.
The first thing which is majorly wrong with this rumour relates back to October.
Walker signed a new deal under the reign of Andre Villas-Boas, which tied him down to Tottenham until 2019.
Nothing has changed in terms of Walker’s squad role and apparent commitment despite the fact AVB was shown the exit door and Tim Sherwood appointed as head coach.
The fact he signed a new deal under a different manager doesn’t matter, he’s as important to Spurs now as he ever was.
The second major thing which is wrong with this rumour relates to the up coming World Cup in Brazil.
How many rumours have you read, which have been dismissed because a player doesn’t want to risk his World Cup place with his national team?
Walker is no different.
Despite what plenty of critics have to say about Walker’s game, he holds the current right-back slot for England and it would be an amazing decision if he risked that at this stage in the season.
There is also a very good indication from the way Blanc has handled his side this season that PSG already own the long term replacement to Jallet.
Gregory van der Wiel has featured in 12 Ligue One games this season, starting nine of them and if Blanc had no confidence at all in his ability to play at right-back, the number of appearances is surprising.
Bear in mind that at this time of year, and in the summer, Le 10 Sport is one site which does cover some more left field transfer ideas and rumours. There’s nothing in this.
Rubbish Rating: Stick your mortgage on Walker being a Tottenham man by the end of the month.
