Tonight, Manchester City’s players will no doubt relax in front of the television to watch the other Capital One Cup semi-final.
Tomorrow however, they will be focused on making it to yet another cup final when they face West Ham United in the first-leg of their own double-header.
And according to the Manchester Evening News, City boss Manuel Pellegrini will play his strongest available side against the Hammers.
That means a return for the likes of Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabaleta, with the Chilean knowing the importance of securing his first piece of silverware as quickly as possible.
And while the match has come too soon for Sergio Aguero, the Argentine striker has reportedly returned to training and should be ready for City’s tough series of matches against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and of course the Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona next month.
In quotes published by the Express, Pellegrini said, “Of course it’s very good news. Any players that are recovering from their injuries is very good news, especially an important player like Kun Aguero.”
And that “important player” may soon have new teammates, with Pellegrini telling Sky Sports, “We are looking at two or three things, but it’s not important right now.”
Whether those moves come this month or next summer, the prospect of City strengthening even more is a worrying one for the rivals attempting to keep up with them.
