Man City man to Fiorentina 'not sci-fi'

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has admitted that it 'wouldn't be science fiction' if Stevan Jovetic re-joined the club during the winter window.

Fiorentina need a replacement for injured star Giuseppe Rossi and that may lead them back to Stevan Jovetic.

Rossi, who currently leads the Serie A scoring chart with 14 for the season, has suffered a serious knee injury and will be a massive loss to the Viola.

It looks almost certain that Fiorentina will enter the market as they are still without Mario Gomez, who is battling his own long-term injury.

And coach Vincenzo Montella has responded to links with Jovetic, who left for Manchester City last summer after a successful spell at the Stadio Artemio Franchi with scepticism, but admits such a move wouldn't be impossible.

"We need a second striker to compete at a certain level," Montella told Sportmediaset.

"It seems that Jovetic is injured too, so we'd be set! But it isn't science fiction."

Montella was also asked whether he would consider Udinese striking veteran Antonio Di Natale who has announced his intention to retire at the end of the season.

"What about Di Natale for the last six months of his career? No, we have spoken to him so many times before and it has never gone as we hoped," Montella explained. "This time we won't be calling on him."
