Manchester United boss David Moyes has denied a deal for Fabio Coentrao has been done.
Manchester United manager David Moyes is reported to have decided to axe Fabio in the summer, as he continues to trim the options in the left-back position.
Questions remain over Patrice Evra, whose contract soon expires too - but United have an option to extend it, and may do so if they fail to land a big target.
It has been reported this week that Real Madrid will do a deal for Fabio Coentrao for £15 million with United, later denied, and then once again today written that the Portuguese defender had agreed personal terms.
Quizzed by reporters after the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland, David Moyes denied a deal was done, as reported by The Times' Oliver Kay via Twitter.
David Moyes did not go into detail, and of course didn't deny that he was not interested in the player they almost signed on loan on deadline day, but right now any reports indicating the deal is over the line are not to be trusted.
Coentrao, 25, has made just four La Liga appearances all season at Real Madrid and none in the Champions League.
He is keen to play regular football to keep fresh ahead of the World Cup with Portugal, but of course moving to United now and competing with Patrice Evra offers no guarantees, although you imagine if the club pay a sizeable fee for him rather than a loan - he will be afforded more opportunities.
