Transfer Talk: Featuring Grenier, Gonalons and Pjanic

Transfer news from Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool and Cardiff City.

Arsenal are once again being linked with a move for Lyon playmaker Clement Grenier. The €12 million rated midfielder has been strongly linked with the Gunners in the past and the Daily Mirror has claimed Arsene Wenger is keen on trying to do a deal for the 22-year-old.

One Lyon star the Gunners are unlikely to get their hands on is Maxime Gonalons. The 24-year-old has confirmed he will be holding several meetings this week with club officials as he pushes for a move to Serie A giants Napoli.

Roma claim they have turned down multiple offers for Miralem Pjanic. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with the 23-year-old but reports from Italy suggest Roma aren’t budging.

“We have had many offers for Miralem. And not necessarily from PSG. For the moment he's for sale,” sporting director Walter Sabatini is quoted by the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Chelsea can breathe a little easier after former boss Rafa Benitez played down Napoli interest in David Luiz and Juan Mata. Benitez has said it would be difficult for his club to do a deal for either player and has confirmed that there is no official interest from the Italian side.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed he thinks his top transfer targets will be out of reach this month. The comments will come as a blow to United fans who would have been hoping for big names to revitalise the club’s season.

“I have said I will try to get players but it will probably be doubtful in January. I have said that quite consistently - There is no point in me hyping it up and saying we are because players we would like to bring in are probably not available,” said Moyes.

The Mirror has also suggested that Liverpool are interested in 17-year-old MK Dons star Dele Alli. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers watched on as Alli featured in the match between the MK Dons and Wigan over the weekend. MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has previously said Alli is worth ‘millions’.

Cardiff City are being branded as the favourite to sign Wilfried Zaha on loan from Manchester United. A loan deal this month has been suggested for the winger and Cardiff have a natural advantage in the form of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United past.
