Arsenal have been linked with a vast array of forwards already this month as Arsene Wenger looks to contend with mounting injuries, as well as identifying the bona fide world class striker required to fire his side to the Premier League title.
A report on Ghanaian website Ghana Soccer Net claims the club had representatives at both Atletico Madrid's 1-0 win at Malaga on Saturday and at the Nou Camp yesterday for Barcelona's 3-0 win over Elche.
The two players scouted were Atleti's goalscoring sensation Diego Costa and Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, owned by Juventus.
Real Madrid are also said to be watching the striker and an agent with close links to the club was quoted as saying: "Boakye-Yiadom has a massive future.
"He made notice after scoring against Real Madrid. I was informed by somebody high up in the club [Real Madrid] that a senior scout has been designated to watch him against Barcelona.
"There is belief in La Liga that Richmond [Boakye-Yiadom] is a would-be great striker because he is quick, disciplined and a great goal scorer.
"My friend in the Emirates [Arsenal] told me that Rowley has been asked by the club to watch Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa and Elche striker Boakye-Yiadom on Saturday and Sunday respectively."
Whether or not Arsenal follow up their tentative interest in the duo remains to be seen but Wenger was quoted the other day as saying that it would cost as much as £145m to prise Costa from the La Liga giants while Boakye is still something of an unknown quantity.
The young striker actually signed for Juventus in the summer of 2012 but has not played for The Old Lady and is now in his second loan spell after scoring 11 times in 31 outings for Sassuolo last season and the 20-year-old has netted four in 15 appearances this term.
Costa, meanwhile, has plundered an astonishing 19 goals in 18 league matches this season to rival the likes of Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo in the European goalscoring stakes and is considered one of the top strikers in world football at present.
Arsenal have been linked with a plethora of attacking talent, including Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata on a six-month loan deal, Michy Batshuayi of Standard Liege and even a shock deal for Fulham's Dimitar Berbatov.
Which striker do you think Arsenal should move for in the January transfer window?
