Manchester United scouts watched Strootman, Vidal and Vucinic on Sunday - report

Juventus and Roma put on quite a show at the weekend, and reports claim Manchester United sent scouts to watch the action.

If you believe recent reports, Manchester United’s scouts have been almost exclusively watching matches involving Portuguese and Spanish sides. But on Sunday, members of David Moyes’ staff were reportedly in attendance for the Serie A match between Juventus and Roma.

It was a game the reigning Serie A champions won in some style, with goals from Arturo Vidal, Leonardo Bonucci and Mirko Vucinic sealing a 3-0 win.

As if that was not bad enough for Rudi Garcia’s men, Roma also had two players sent off in the space of 86 seconds, first Daniele De Rossi and then Leandro Castano for a foul and a hand-ball on the line respectively.

According to Italian website Tuttosport, United had scouts in attendance for a match that would have certainly left them entertained. But who were they there to see?

The Italian report claims Vidal was their prime target. United have after all been heavily linked with the Chilean midfielder in recent times.

But Vucinic has also regularly been tipped for a switch to Old Trafford, and may be surplus to requirements given the other strikers at Juventus’s disposal.

And then of course there is the Roma pair of De Rossi and Kevin Strootman – the two that got away if previous reports are to be believed.

Whoever United’s scouts were watching, it is clear Moyes is scouring Europe as he attempts to build his own version of United. But it will not be cheap, and it will not be easy.
