French side Montpellier have stated they are ‘expecting’ a bid from Newcastle for attacking midfielder playmaker Remy Cabella but are the Magpies be expecting a bid from Manchester United for their maestro Yohan Cabaye?
The January transfer window is often a game of dominos – one move can so often spark a number of other moves around Europe as players play their part in the January transfer merry go round.
Could this be the case for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye who was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer prior to the arrival of Mesut Ozil at the Emirates?
The French maestro had admitted to be disappointed the move didn’t go through but perhaps the 27-year-old could be boosted by the possibility of a move the Premier League champions instead.
It’s the worst kept secret in English football that David Moyes is in need of some creativity in his central midfield and creativity is something the Newcastle midfielder possesses in abundance.
Newcastle had seemed somewhat open to negotiating with Arsenal this summer and I believe for the right price Manchester United could have a top quality playmaker with Premier League experience to come in and boost their hopes of charging up the table this term.
Meanwhile, it would also appear that the Magpies are preparing for that possibility – Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin has stated he expects Newcastle to make an offer for Remy Cabella this month.
"Manchester has not sent any proposal," Nicollin told Midi Libre.
"As for Newcastle, it seems to me they are about to make one, but I expect confirmation on that. But the idea is still that Remy is with Montpellier until June."
Perhaps the reason a Manchester club has not sent a proposal for the 23-year-old French midfield ace is because the English champions are proposing to bring in someone a little closer to home. The £7 million rated attacking midfielder has managed an impressive 6 goals and 5 assists across 18 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.
Cabaye is currently the creative nucleus of Alan Pardew’s team who are doing well and mounting a challenge to the top four this season – Cabaye has 5 goals and 3 assists in the Premier League so far this season and could be the kind of signing Moyes may turn to after Atletico Madrid insisted this week midfield target Koke would remain in the Spanish capital ‘for many years’.
