Chelsea will get a chance to lure Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin after Inter allowed the Premier League giants to talk to their player's agent.
The 27-year-old has become hot property during this campaign and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is said to be determined to bring him to West London.
There had been reports that Chelsea had already tabled a bid, but those were rejected last week when Inter stressed that no contact had been made.
However, Inter have now given their clearest indication that they would be open to selling Guarin to Chelsea if the player wishes to go.
"There has been contact with Chelsea and it is a source of pride because Guarin is an important player," he said.
"They have permission to talk to the player's agent but we will be really happy if he wants to stay.
"We don't have any desire to sell him as he is showing how important he is."
It has been suggested that Chelsea will need to come up with an offer in excess of £15m to persuade Inter to let go of Guarin.
