Juventus moved eight points clear at the top of Serie A after a convincing 3-0 win over nine-man Roma and Gigi Buffon was pugnacious in his post-match press conference.
Tensions ran high ahead of the top-of-the-table encounter in Turin as Roma talisman Francesco Totti brought up the age-old topic of refereeing decisions.
Rivals regularly accuse Juventus of receiving favourable refereeing decisions and Totti insisted that the Old Lady's success owed a lot to officiating, sparking anger from various Juve officials.
But Antonio Conte's men chose the best possible response by easing to a 3-0 win to extend their lead at the top of Serie A thanks to goals from Arturo Vidal, Leonardo Bonucci and Mirko Vucinic from the penalty spot.
"Do I want to discuss what Totti said? No, it's the kind of thing you hear a lot," Buffon said in his post-match press conference.
"They are excuses for those who don't win - there's always an excuse ready.
"We deserved to win. The defeat against Fiorentina taught us a lot just like the loss to Inter last year."
Nonetheless Buffon did pay tribute to Roma's performance despite the emphatic nature of the score-line.
"Roma showed that they aren't second for no reason," he explained. "They are a team to be scared of and they impressed me for an hour, but we won because we took our chances."
