Arsenal fan Piers Morgan's bet against Man United unlikely to pay out…

Old Trafford 3

He may have won a wager versus Twitter rival Lord Sugar over Tottenham Hotspur, but his bet over Manchester United is unlikely!

Over the weekend, because of Arsenal's 2-0 victory registered against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium, renowned Gunners fan Piers Morgan won a £5,000 bet against Twitter rival and former Spurs chairman Lord Alan Sugar.

Morgan won't get to see the 5k, though, as the winnings will be sent to Great Ormond Street hospital.

While Piers may be pleased with his flutter, there is another he will unlikely yield any returns from, however, whether he actually placed the bet remains to be seen as the following post may have been intended as a mere wind-up to any of his followers who hold Manchester United closest to their hearts.

While Crystal Palace have odds of 1/2 to be relegated from England's top tier, the less likely to face the drop are team such as Stoke City and Aston Villa or even West Bromwich Albion - all around 8/1 - while some bookmakers do have options on United, so Piers, if you're reading this, you'll win £500 back if you put a £1 bet on with Boylesports, or £7,500 if you go with Ladbrokes.

Really, though, you'd be better off keeping the pound…
