Tottenham transfer news: Strike pair with 206 club goals between them linked

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

With the fall-out of Tottenham’s FA Cup defeat to Arsenal dominating the headlines, there is little transfer news relating to Spurs this morning.

However, they have been linked with two strikers who have netted 206 club goals between them to date.

The Sunday People reports that Tottenham’s sporting director Franco Baldini has been monitoring Juventus pair Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella.

With Jermain Defoe likely to leave for MLS side Toronto, Spurs boss Tim Sherwood will have just two experienced strikers to call on in Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor. And it would be a major surprise if Spurs do not bring in another frontman this month.

Vucinic has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in the past, and his 115 domestic goals to date suggest he knows exactly where the net is.

Quagliarella is not far behind, with 91 strikes in a career that has seen him play for five Serie A sides.

The report claims that a loan deal for one of the players is the most likely short-term solution, with a permanent move coming next summer.
