Manchester United transfer news: Solskjaer’s Zaha link; £30m striker bid in pipeline?

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Manchester United

It was only a matter of time until the inevitable Wayne Rooney to Chelsea rumours rose from their slumber once more. And the Daily Mail reports that the Blues could make a fresh £30million offer if his contract talks with Manchester United fail to lead to a new deal.

Suggestions persist that David Moyes’ summer spending and Champions League qualification will dictate the England man’s decision as he approaches the negotiating table for arguably the last big deal of his career.

But as we have said before in these pages, we just cannot see United selling to a domestic rival as long as the player’s future is in their hands.

Rooney and his fellow United players may have to wait until the summer to welcome any new teammates.

Goal is reporting quotes from Moyes in which he says he is unlikely to be busy in the January sales.

When asked if he would sign anyone this month he replied, “I don’t think so. I think most of the business will be more towards the summer rather than January.”

But one player almost certain to (temporarily) leave this month is Wilfried Zaha, and new Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly interested in the winger.

Zaha was first linked with the Bluebirds during Malky Mackay’s tenure, but now the Sunday People claims the former United legend will attempt to bring the England international in on loan.
