Reports in Spain claim United are no longer interested in Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.
Manchester United fans may be crying out for a new midfielder or two, but reports continue to suggest that David Moyes is just as keen on a new left-back.
Patrice Evra may have been in fine form for quite some time, but at 32, and nearing the end of his current contract, it is no surprise United are planning for the future.
While Leighton Baines, Fabio Coentrao and Luke Shaw have all been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford, reports back in November claimed the league champions were in a tussle with Chelsea and Real Madrid for Sevilla full-back Alberto Moreno.
The 21-year-old is enjoying an good season in La Liga and is said to have been on United’s radar since he impressed in Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial.
But Spanish website Estadio Deportivo claims United have now ended their pursuit of Moreno.
The report states that “given the impossibility of carrying out the operation” United will now turn their attention back to their earlier and more regularly-reported targets.
With a contract until 2018, and with a reported £25million release-clause, it is no surprise Moyes may be looking elsewhere.
Perhaps, considering his woes in regards to Spanish-based transfers thus far, he should look at another league altogether.
