For some he will always be known as “the wally with the brolly” and yet Steve McClaren continues to impress with some fine coaching displays at a variety of clubs both in England and abroad.
His latest job has seen him take Derby County into the top four of the Championship, and this afternoon he gets the chance to prove he can still mastermind an upset against one of the Premier League elite.
The Rams may have won eight of their last 10 fixtures, but today’s match against Chelsea is a very different proposition. That said, few would dismiss an upset entirely. Matches like this are what the FA Cup is all about.
This is the seventh time the two sides have met in this competition and something has to give, as both sides have won two each and played out two draws. Most recently, Chelsea won 3-1 back in 1988.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
