Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed claims his club will make a January move for the Chelsea defender.
David Luiz has been linked with a whole host of clubs since Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge.
And we are not talking small clubs, either; or places that probably would not appeal to him. The Brazilian has been linked with some of Europe’s heaviest heavy-weights – most notably Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
But now the German club’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has had his say on the Luiz rumours.
In quotes published by German newspaper Bild, the former German international said the following:
“It is now much speculation, in England it is extreme. We are linked at the moment with David Luiz and other Spanish players. All I can say very clearly is that this is not an issue with us.
“The stories that await us in the summer, we do not deal with at the moment. We have not prepared anything, so there is nothing to hide.”
So it appears Bayern have no intention of signing anyone in January – apart from agreeing terms with Robert Lewandowski of course.
But the summer may be another story altogether. After all, Luiz’s Chelsea future remains in some doubt and with the likes of Eliaquim Mangala and Ezequiel Garay linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, the Brazilian could still find his time at the Blues coming to an end.
