Last week I wrote an article on the possibility of Radamel Falcao moving to Chelsea.
I was not the first and I certainly will not be the last, but with Monaco reportedly joining the race for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, I suggested his arrival at the French club could allow the free-scoring Colombian to finally make a move he has been tipped to for quite some time.
It is no secret that Chelsea need a new striker – of the world-class variety – and Falcao is certainly that, as is Costa. And in truth either man would be a fantastic addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad.
But the whispers of Falcao’s possible departure continue (if only among hopefully fans) and the latest news from Monaco suggests they could be preparing for the former Atletico man’s departure.
Claudio Ranieri’s side have announced the signing of Lacina Traore from Anzhi Makhachkala, but reports claim the Ivory Coast striker will be immediately loaned to West Ham United for the second half of this season.
Signing someone only to immediately loan them out is nothing new, but it usually happens with younger players, not 23-year-olds with reported €18million price-tags.
But should West Ham complete the reported deal, it could also give us a glimpse into Monaco’s future plans.
Perhaps there is not currently a regular starting place for a man who averaged a goal every other game last season, but there could be next season, if Mourinho finally makes his move.
