Morrison has been in good form this season, having starred in a poor West Ham side which is facing a relegation fight.
But according to various bookmakers, the former United star could be in line for a shock return to Old Trafford, with BetVictor making him 6/1 favourite and SkyBet giving even shorter odds at 5/1.
The story of Morrison's previous tenure at Manchester United is a rather unfortunate one. Former manager Sir Alex Ferguson once commented that Morrison was the best 14-year-old he has ever seen, and former team mate Rio Ferdinand went one better and insisted that he would actually pay just to watch the lad train!
But the path Morrison took in his later teen years all but seemed to extinguish his once promising football career. And in 2012, Sir Alex gave up on the talented midfielder and cited his off pitch attitude as the reason.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce took advantage of the situation and brought the player down to London. Initially loaned out to Birmingham City, Morrison impressed, and since returning to East London he has gone on from strength to strength to become West Ham's most valuable asset.
Morrison broke into the England U21 side in 2013, and quickly rebuilt his reputation with some breathe-taking performances for both club and country.
And it's now clearly thought that Manchester United's current manager, David Moyes, is keen on bringing the player back to Old Trafford.
