I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 4th January 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 4th January 2013 …
A Villa in Islington
Arsenal were reportedly preparing themselves for a swoop on Barcelona - and their Spanish international striker David Villa.
Leading into this day Arsenal had just let Marouane Chamakh join West Ham on loan and were reportedly looking to let Johan Djourou, Sebastien Squillaci and Andrey Arshavin all leave in order to release the funds for a raid on Barca.
However, Arshavin and Squillaci never went away and the more pressing issue of a left-back was instead addressed via Nacho Monreal.
Villa went on to join Atletico Madrid this summer gone for a fee in the region of €5.1 million - bargain!
Lump of Cole
Joe Cole returned to his first club West Ham United. The former England international never truly settled in at Anfield, and his move was greeted with little surprise both in London and Liverpool.
He signed a deal at The Hammers after Liverpool reportedly paid to get rid of him - such was the financial burden of him staying at the club for a further 18 months.
He arrived from Chelsea in 2010 and played 42 games for the club - scoring five times.
Can’t Holt on that long
Tottenham signed Lewis Holtby. The Schalke 04 player’s contract was expiring at the end of the season - and he had made no secret of his desire to come play in the Premier League.
He reportedly signed his contract with Spurs on this day - but as the month progressed things changed.
Spurs needed midfield cover - and decided they couldn’t wait.
They ended up spending €1.75 million to bring him in early.
