Italian reports suggest Chelsea bid for £15m valued Colombian could be be fruitless

Inter Milan

Fredy Guarin may no longer be sold by Inter Milan as they consider other money making schemes.

For the past month Chelsea have been continuously linked with one player more than any other - Fredy Guarin of Inter Milan.

The Colombian - who can play anywhere in the midfield - was reportedly earmarked by Jose Mourinho as a vital piece of the jigsaw that could see Chelsea win the Premier League title this season.

And Guarin clearly was not against working with the former Real Madrid boss, judging by his comments earlier in the week:

“Jose Mourinho? He is simply number one.”

Tottenham failed in several bids to snap him up last summer - and now Chelsea could be about to go down that familiar route.

According to The Times Chelsea have had their initial approach, believed to be in the £13 million region, rejected by the Nerazzuri.

Inter Milan want to sell at least one player for big money this winter - so that Walter Mazzarri can continue to mould his ‘new Inter’ - so they are surely waiting for bigger money.

Not according to reports in Italy.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport Inter have already begun to identify another player they could move on in order to keep Guarin.

It comes as reports of frostiness between the two clubs over the deal begin to pick up momentum - so Erick Thohir, the new owner, is now said to be willing to OK a transfer for Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia.

Selling Ranocchia would make selling Guarin a nonsense piece of business - and it seems this deal is rapidly going up in smoke.
