Here is how Newcastle United and Cardiff City will line-up for this afternoon’s match at St James’ Park:

Newcastle United starting XI: Elliot, Santon, S Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara, Tiote, Anita, Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Gouffran, Cisse

Cardiff City starting XI: Marshall, McNaughton, Hudson, Turner, John, Whittingham, Kim, Gunnarsson, Cowie, Odemwingie, Cornelius

Subs: Lewis, Caulker, Campbell, Brayford, Smith, Noone, Conway

A joke circulated on Twitter yesterday claiming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been given a 12-month plan that included winning the World Cup and finding Nemo. But comedy aside, the former Manchester United striker has a very serious job to do at Cardiff City; a job that can be broken down into parts, with the first being to win over the fans still angered by the dismissal of Malky Mackay.

Winning at St James’ Park will be a good start, but it will be far from easy, despite the Magpies being without captain Fabricio Coloccini due to a knee injury.

Solskjaer has already spoken about the FA Cup potentially giving his side momentum as they seek to climb up the Premier League table in the weeks and months ahead, but Alan Pardew’s men will know that a few kind draws could see a return to Wembley.

Newcastle won 2-1 when these two sides last met, while the last match at St James’ Park ended in a 5-1 victory for United.

What do you think today’s result will be?
