One point off top spot in the Premier League, Manchester City temporarily put their mission to overhaul Arsenal on hold to focus on the FA Cup.
They will no doubt rest players, but given the quality and depth of their squad, some would suggest it does not matter. That being said, a trip to Ewood Park is never an easy proposition and Blackburn will be desperate to prove they can still be a match for top-flight opposition despite currently plying their trade in the second-tier.
Both clubs have an affinity with this competition, although Rovers’ last success is considerably dustier than City’s. Winners on six occasions, Blackburn last lifted the cup in 1928; while the Blues won their fifth cup in 2011, also contesting last year’s final before losing to Wigan Athletic.
The last time these two sides met in the FA Cup was in 2007, with Blackburn winning 2-0.
What do you think today’s result will be?
